We provide tutoring, and daytime services of proof reading, resume writing and interview skills.
Email us with your interest and needs, and start next week.
Casey Tutoring and Support has been created by me. My name is Meg. I live in Casey with my two furkids (Charlie and Jazzy) and am a qualified primary teacher, nurse, disability and aged care worker, with around 20 years of recruiting experience. My experience is not only with children, but with aged care and dementia, and people with a disability including neurodivergence/autism spectrum disorders. For the last six years (until our department closed) I worked with the City of Casey managing teams of home based direct care workers. More recently I have been writing children's novels and short stories.
Diploma of Primary Teaching
Advanced Diploma in Disability
Advanced Diploma in Community Sector Management
Diploma of Nursing
NDIS Worker Screening number; Worker Orientation Module
and of course, Working with Children Check, Police checked and in date for COVID vaccinations (4) and this year's flu jab.
Aside from COVID throwing children out of routine and interrupting their learning, face-to-face tutoring is exciting for kids, and fun for me too. You just can't get the same feedback through a screen (and that works both ways).
It's different from screen time and online courses, and requires the child to think quickly and independently, finding the required solutions in a really practical and hands-on sense. And they get immediate feedback and interaction with their tutor.
As well as the content of the session, whether it's maths, English or reading, in-home tutoring is a social activity requiring verbal conversation, public speaking skills, questioning techniques, different communication styles, and understanding inference and inflexion which can't be acquired online nor easily through social media platforms.
My sessions are individual, inclusive, holistic and supportive, developing not only subject knowledge, but communication and interpersonal skills.
The support services assist those seeking employment through interview technique sessions, resume writing, and for those in secondary or tertiary education I offer proof reading of assignments or theses.
I believe kids experienced enough isolated screen time during COVID. Now let's develop and enhance those interpersonal and social skills needed to be part of our community.
Being at the child's home allows me to respond to their needs immediately, reinforce learning where required, change up things that don't work, and respond to the child's emotional as well as educational needs during the session. It also means your child has my undivided attention for the whole session.
Parents and carers are welcome observe sessions if they wish, but they do not take an active part.
And in case you were wondering, In-home tutoring is more expensive than online tutoring for a variety of reasons:
- Your child receives 1:1 undivided attention for the whole session.
- Individual learning programs take time to prepare, and this is done before we arrive at your home for the week's session. These are based on your child's needs and the current topics being learnt in your school's curriculum.
- It also includes preparation of any resources required
- After session evaluation of your child's work occurs in order to plan for the next week.
We will be here for you every step of the way, working with you to plan the next step on your journey towards success.

From the minute we enter your home, you are being judged. That's what happens at an interview.
We'll help you understand what to expect, provide tips and hints to improve your confidence, and make you stand out from the crowd.

You have a week or two before it's due, but you're not sure that you've got everything just right.
That's where proof reading comes in. A professional eye hunting out those sneaky issues with spelling, punctuation, grammar, word/phrase repetition, and document formatting.
Smash those NAPLAN results and be ready for 2024!
Switch on your child's Literacy Light and let them shine!
We start with an assessment, ask for the last NAPLAN results and discuss what areas need assistance. Then a personal plan is developed, in line with the classroom curriculum (you'll be asked to download this from the school's portal)
For the best outcome, parental or carer support is needed. This is a group effort.
Whether the child needs assistance with English, Reading or Maths, the approach is the same. First assessment, check prior results, plan, work with the current curriculum to keep topics relevant and consolidate current learning.
There is always a way to overcome roadblocks or sticking points.
Contact us to discuss your child's needs.
Payment is required in advance, via Direct Deposit, once you receive your invoice with the date and time of tutoring.
You can also book ahead and purchase a block of sessions, perhaps 10 for the term.

Unfortunately no. Children learn best in a familiar home setting, and this saves families time driving to a session, and minimises disruption to parents/carers and families.
No one can ethically guarantee success, but we will help your child develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required to progress. Similarly with resumes and interview skills, we will do our best to ensure you have the strongest chance of success.
The outcome is really up to the individual.
Yes, and First Aid and CPR trained, COVID vaccinated (minimum 3), carry Working with Children Check cards and clean Police Checks.
Before we start the service, we discuss a suitable day and time. You will be asked to Register (form will be emailed) and asked for information such as contact number, email address, home address (if appropriate for the service) and whether the participant(s) have any particular needs, so your session can be planned specifically for you. Your emailed invoice is to be paid in advance of the session via direct deposit.
If you have questions before booking, please email us through the Contact page, or call and leave a message.
The short answer is no. But we are happy to work with NDIS Participants who are self-managed or Plan managed as an NDIS unregistered provider.
Call to discuss NDIS specific rates for support services.
Parents/carers, the student and the tutor must work together to ensure maximum success from the sessions.
Most importantly, please talk to you child about tutoring and why you (and hopefully they) feel it's necessary.
1. Be honest and realistic about what you would like your child to achieve and by when. If your child's NAPLAN/school results show they are say, 2 or more years behind, it's unlikely they will catch up with everything in 6 months.
2. Please provide a copy of the child's last NAPLAN results for the chosen subject, and their last school report. This will show the strengths and deficiencies, allowing better session planning.
3. Please provide information from the school about learning outcomes for the term in the specific subject. This allows us to keep pace with the school and consolidate current learning, and should be accessible through Compass, or your school's online portal.
4. Let the child's teacher know that tutoring is taking place.
5. Remain at the home while tutoring takes place. This is for everyone's safety. No popping out to the shops please.
1. Be on time and ready for their tutoring sessions.
2. Be assessed at the first session to confirm a starting point for learning.
3. Speak up if they don't understand, or need more explanations or practice to feel comfortable with a particular skill.
4. Try hard, and work with the tutor to get the best outcomes.
1. Be on time and ready for the tutoring sessions.
2. Work with all parties to ensure maximum learning and progression.
3. Provide resources, knowledge and skills to effectively tutor your child.
4. Modify, adapt, change the techniques and methods used to suit the individual child's preferred learning style.
1. Payment for sessions is made in advance, on receipt of invoice, via direct deposit. No payment plans or credit will be offered. Hopefully soon we will have tap and go.
2. Cancellations more than 24hrs before the session - your pre-payment will be held in credit against the next session.
3. Cancellations less than 24hrs before the session - unless agreed with the tutor, no refund or credits apply for non-emergency, late cancellations.
4. Session times - tutor may arrive 10 minutes either side of the time chosen, depending on traffic and road works. If longer delays are expected you will be called and offered the choice to go ahead, or to reschedule.
5. For any session in your home, your home is our workplace. As with all workplaces, aggression or violence of any type, from any person within the student's home, including the student, will not be tolerated. If this occurs, and/or the tutor feels unsafe, they will immediately pack up and leave the premises without further discussion. No refund applies in this circumstance.
6. All parties are to show respect for each other at all times.
7. By paying for a selected tutoring service, you agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions listed here.
